benevolent and indifferent Presence (No. 5 ~ Conclusion)

a creaturely communion

I am convinced, some persons live so in tune with Grace, that they never sense apart from Grace and meet Grace everywhere and in everything, while others live with no sense of Grace, at all. And, so, if one is not in communion with life forms daily, what value is there for the community of beings that one shows up for a weekly worship ritual and goes through a mechanistic group routine to manipulate the Holy to serve the needs of self, and possibly those preferred by the self, rather than the sharing of all together as one holy Life?

Grace, being this indifferent and benevolent Presence, embracing all equally, you become drawn more and more into Grace, by consent. Grace flows into the space you offer Grace. Grace will not intrude, Grace being gracious, never violating anyone.

To a like degree as you are drawn into Grace by Grace, you take upon yourself the nature of Grace you are being drawn into and by. Then, in time, you sense a freshness in your meetings with other creatures. You come to see that the Love you have aspired to has lost its personal, so egoic, quality. You find your heart open, welcoming, no longer selecting whom is invited in and whom is not invited in. Invitation becomes spontaneous, for Presence is invitational.

This posturing of heart-with-heart lessens the objectivity of that which was totally other, the otherness of the other being a reflection of your own true being, so coming as near to 'your' presence as 'your' presence to you. Rupert Spira, in his "Foreward" to Francis Lucille, The Perfume of Silence, says of this other and otherness, "Strangely enough it is this very dissolution of 'other' that makes us truly capable of loving an 'other.'" The otherness, an objectivity, of the other urges us to intend to love the other with a Love that transcends the other being other, in a conventional sense, so to enjoy subject-with-subject love. I desire, then, to love a tree beyond any sense of the otherness by which I have seen the tree due to my being socialized on how to see a tree as merely inanimate object, and the otherness of the tree to be the otherness of the unseen Spirit, pure Subjectivity equally animating the tree and me as one in the communion of nature.

In indifferent and benevolent Presence, you find a subtle communion with human and nonhuman species, with the seen and unseen. You realize diversity is not a hindrance to this communion, but an inspiration to celebrate this communion. You find this life journey is a Journey of Love to Love by Love, one that leads to delight and gratitude in choiceless, silent Welcome. You grow to appreciate your welcome is the only Welcome there has been, is, and ever will be. There is only one Welcome.
